Interview with Haydn from Haydn Studio
Haydn is the Director at Haydn Studio. He graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. With his interest for design and interior, Haydn has 10 years of extensive interior design experience which covers running his own firms in Singapore, Malaysia and Ho Chi Minh.
What is your design philosophy?
I enjoy using technology in interior design to propose and also integrate into homes. For example: Virtual reality walk in presentation so customers can have a good understand of their home instead of flat 3D image. I also enjoy integrating smart home systems for customers.
What's your fav interior design magazine and why?
My fav interior magazine is Singapore Tatler Homes. The latest trend and concepts are always featured and they feature contents of not only local homes, but international designs where we can learn from. I also like to take design references from non interior magazines like "ID" or "Dazed and confused". I believe designs don't have to be the same industry to take inspiration from.
What advice do you have for home owners in interior design?
Home owners tend to pick something they like from every element and put them together. This will create a mess. Have a theme, stick to your theme. Consistency is the way to achieve a good design.
Share something you would like the world to know about you or your ideas?
Interior design elements include space, line, forms, lights, colour, texture and pattern.
Keeping them balanced is the key to creating an aesthetically please interior. Less is more.
